Operation Christmas Child 2021

Project Godspeed

The Bermuda Hundred UMW has selected Jackson-Feild's Spiritual Care Program, specifically "PROJECT GODSPEED". The project provided a new hard shell suitcase with wheels to each of the children as they are discharged from Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services. In addition to the suitcase, each child will be given their own hand-made pillowcase. The pillowcases and suitcases may seem insignificant, but they send a truly powerful message of self-worth. They also serve as tangible reminders to the children that God loves them. They'll also know that they are valued and appreciated by others who care for them. All of their belongings will be safely packed inside a new suitcase, a suitcase that can carry them into the next journey. Perhaps that suitcase will accompany them throughout many journeys in their lifetime.

With the success of the church Yard Sale, the generous donation of $500.00 from the United Methodist Men and donations from the congregation we were able to surpass our goal of 6 hard shell suitcases and 24 decorated pillow cases. Betty Forbes was able to acquire 16 large hard shell suitcases and 45 pillowcases which were embellished by Margaret Reynolds, Doris Linkous and Betty Forbes .
